The FUHSD College Fair takes place every fall on a midweek evening in September or October. Representatives from over 100 institutions attend and share information about their college or university. The fair takes place at one of the FUHSD school sites, and is open to all FUHSD students and their families. Check the school calendar for the date and time of the next College Fair.

Enter the College Essay Workshop That’s why CATES created the College Essay Workshop. Taking place in the summer before senior year, the workshop assembles a team of experts who take students from concept to finished essay—in only three days.
In this session, Ethan Sawyer (College Essay Guy) will cover, among other things: How can counselors create a workshop environment that invites openness, vulnerability, and creativity? What’s the role of the facilitator? Are any topics off-limits? How much sharing is “too much”? What are some simple, effective ways to help students provide one another feedback?
The 1-week Summer college essay workshop consists of three 2-hour sessions (for a combined total of 6 hours). To provide continuity, the three sessions typically occur during a one week period, with students brainstorming, drafting, editing, and finalizing their essays between sessions. The writing coach will also provide detailed, personal feedback on all drafts. You can form your own group.
